1. A track from early childhood
Arrogant Worms - I Am Cow
What goes around comes around -_- Now Rayner's hooked on it haha. I recall this back from P4.
2. A track that I associate with my first love
Wouldn't count any of them crushes as so.
3. A track that reminds me of a holiday trip
Breaking Benjamin - So Cold
Because my cousin kept blasting it on his speakers (and got clobbered by his brothers for doing so) when we were staying at my aunt's house when we were in Australia last year.
4. A track that you like but wouldn't want to be associated with
Tatu - Not Gonna Get Us
It's so schizophrenic and pop-ish but thoroughly addictive. like most of Tatu's stuff, actually. This track and Fefe Dobson's Take Me Away.
5. A track that accompanied you while you were lovesick
The Killers - Andy You're a Star
I'd like to say Aqualung's Strange & Beautiful, but the former track is better suited for the timeframe in question. The second track came later.
6. A track that you have probably listened to most often
Sufjan Stevens - For the Widows in Paradise, for the Fatherless in Ypsilanti
Did I mention favourite song?
7. A track that is your favorite instrumental
I have so many instrumentals and so many nice ones! Um, Evacuating London; Narnia OST. It's magical. I love the Narnia OST. I loved the music in the movie enough to get the soundtrack, and for me to get a CD means I really, really, really love the music. I'm guessing I have about 5 CDs, tops.
8. A track that represents one of your favorite bands
I don't really go by favourite artistes, but if I had to pick it'd be Death Cab for Cutie. And so if I had to pick it's be Death Cab for Cutie - Marching Bands of Manhattan. I love this track so much.
9. A track that represents yourself best
I go by lyrics. Two songs, really.
A-Ha - Cosy Prisons
Take a moment if you dare
Catch yourself a breath of air
There's another life out there
And you should try it
Every thought you never dared to think
Every mood you always knew would sink
Every line you spoke out loud in a jest
All the time you took to be your best
Soon forgotten
Cuz everything makes your pretty head spin
And nagging thoughts are starting to sink in
With everything this way it's better to forget
Than end up in a place with something to regret
Your transatlantic shopping spree
Your health forever guarantees
Organic -bio-life's a breeze in cosy prisons
But hiding out in a salad bar
Isn't gonna get you far
and bottled wine is vinegar tomorrow
Everything around here makes your pretty head spin
It's piling up high and you're back where you begin
Moments you've tried so hard to forget
Are promising to've been the best ones yet
Everytime you shut your eyes it appears
Everytime you trace your steps back here
None of your convictions have the same old ring
No doubt you found a place for everything
In cosy prisons
So if you're careful
You won't get hurt
But if you're careful all the time
Then what's it worth?
Obviously, my akeya knows me best. Although um have I moved slightly on from this?
Placebo - Drag
Which isn't that great musically but has
lyrics that are very apt for me.
10. A track that reminds you of a special occasion (which one)
Emm Gryner - Symphonic
Was listening to this around the timeframe of prom last year. So I associate this with prom. Which was quite fun.
11. A track that you can relax to
ES Posthumus - Nara
It's steady. And unboring, with rises and falls. And very cinematic, and I love cinematic background music.
12. A track that stands for a really good time in your life
Tantric - Breakdown
ISN'T THIS IRONIC. Anyway the story behind this is that a visiting pastor showed us some music videos his church in Hawaii made and this song was used as the music for one of them, and that period of time in which this happened was a good time spiritually. Because I can't think of any particularly really good time because um I like my life.
13. A track that is currently your favorite
Desperation Band - Rescue
This is mainly because people in class sing it a lot, and it's on Wally's nick, and I just got the track and have been listening to it a lot.
Lyrics!
14. A track that you would dedicate to your best friend
A-Ha - Holy Ground
Ditopia, yo.
15. A track you think nobody but you likes
Vienna Teng - My Medea
Mainly because no one I know really listens to Vienna Teng, and the
lyrics are kind of disturbing but very fairytale-esque.
16. A track that you like especially for its lyrics
The Decemberists - The Engine Driver
And if you don't love me let me go
And if you don't love me let me go
And I am a writer, writer of fictions
I am the heart that you call home
And I've written pages upon pages
Trying to rid you from my bones
17. A track that you like that is neither English nor Chinese
Oh, easy. I have Japanese and German and Spanish and French and Korean songs on my computer. Um, Mario Frangoulis - Hijo de la Luna which is, evidently, a song about the moon.
18. A track that lets you release tension best
I HAVE NO SCREAMY MUSIC. Requiem for a Dream theme, real loud. ES Posthumus' Tikal has taken over the role of the requiem track, though (both of this question and in my life um Kim knows what I'm talking about). It's lovely.
19. A track that you want to be played at your funeral
eh dunno.
20. A track that you'd nominate for the best of all times category
It won't WIN, but Howie Day - Collide. Lovely, especially when sung by a male (who presumably can sing relatively okayly) yay.
