Against my better judgment, I am posting from work-- yes! I finally got a job, for those of you who haven't heard from me in long enough that you didn't realize I finally got a job. I am a sales assistant/office manager/receptionist at a small magazine company called Modern Luxury that publishes regional upscale lifestyle magazines. What that really means is just that I am everyone's bitch and do all the menial tasks that no one else wants to do, like answering phones, ordering office supplies, filling out forms, and sending UPS packages. I am at the very, very bottom of the totem pole. But, while I do not enjoy the actual work, I like the environment and the company, so I'm pretty happy where I am.
Last night I saw Superbad and was once again reminded of my love for the Judd Apatow gang. The thought of Michael Cera being adopted into this little family gives me the warm fuzzies. I didn't think Superbad was quite as good as Knocked Up, but it was excellent nonetheless. The one thing about high school that the movie gets completely and utterly wrong, though, is high school girls. The chicks in the movie come across as being far more socially skilled than the dudes. Anyone who's ever been or known a teenage girl can tell you that this is patently untrue. The girls I knew in high school were every bit as clumsy and cringe-inducingly awkward, as naive and confused about sex, as any boy character in Superbad. But no one ever makes movies about that. Someone bring back Lindsay Weir, Kim Kelly, Millie!
OK, I think I've wasted enough of the company's time. It's the week before Labor Day, VERY slow, the entire country is on vacation a week early.
