Originally, I had a different plan for my
Week 13 entry, but I quickly figured out that it would get too weird and/or would not have the desired result.
It would have been prefaced by this true story: I once had a graduate student from a foreign culture... a culture with somewhat non-Western ideas about the notion of intellectual property. I had busted her several times throughout the semester for turning in obviously plagiarized papers, and she always acted like she didn't quite understand what was wrong (although my colleagues and I all knew that she understood exactly what she was doing).
For her final paper, I was handed something that read like a ten-page-long spam email. I called her into my office and asked what the hell any of it actually meant. Without further accusations (at this point, I really had no clue that plagiarism was involved here either), she openly admitted to her "writing process." She'd found a writing of suitable length on the assigned topic in her native language, run it in its entirety through Google Translate --> English, and handed the result in exactly as Google Translate spat it back out to her. She still "failed to understand" why I was upset.
In honor of that particularly memorable brush with plagiarism, I was originally going to take the snippets I uhhh borrowed from all y'all LJI compatriates' previous entries and run them through Google Translate a few times, back and forth from English, then see if anyone could still spot their own writing following the software-torture process. (This is, incidentally / ironically, a mangling / idea-generating process I've used in my own creativity for many years-- if a little more complicated in the way I've previously applied it than my past student's brute-force approach.)
And, of course, I ended up writing my "story" around the original unmutilated source materials / fragments. But I thought I'd present the unused results of the initial experiments (English --> Spanish --> English --> traditional Chinese --> English at this stage)... because while they weren't quite amazing enough to encourage me to continue with Plan A, they're still frequently pretty funny.
Also, this may help you spot the fragments I stole in order to write my finished entry. Or maybe not.

I learned a thing or two. I'm going to bed now fully dressed, often including my identity card and purse and shoes. I wear a few different currency (euro thank God, and the fact that two Canadians and southern borders are usually tolerated dollars in cash). But I have never found myself in the previous Eastern European countries, who knows? I have no money, that's for sure. God, I hope I do not need ......

I went to the pond, leaving close enough to my swing. He followed me lost. I was too drunk even aware of it.
I phoned my superpower.

Later on, I will try to use this to my interests, smuggling white hair, my skin soften age lines. I went back, and in this way, trying to keep in the best condition, desperate to use my apparent immortality. I draw some very lovely ladies left a deep impression, and who small feat.

I never finished the sentence. Behind me there is a deafening noise, turned to see what was causing. It all happened in slow motion afterwards.

The bird said, "This is what she said."

She wrinkles guilty photos. One woman. French, maybe. Very, very naked. His questioning. Her hair was different... not uniform... pictures show her wedding ring was gone.
The conclusion is obvious.

I do not know what came over her, but he tripped over his feet and her little room ...... did not take long to discover that the dress she wore that day.
He grabbed the cloth with trembling hands, but after the first seems to have torn their own ideas. Sequins flying around ... did not stop until it is completely destroyed.
