Who: cuddly_like_me & etokuramnasmekh When: Day time || arrival post here Where: Main Office Rating: PG-13 for language Summary: Jayne & River arrives in Acairnia
River had been playing in the cargo bay while the others were on a job. With music in her head, she flitted through the spaces, dancing steps that she'd known since she discovered the art. Then the world tilted and something inside her ripped in two.
Jayne could probably hear her shrieking inside the elevator, though he wouldn't see her press herself into the corner and slide down to hug her knees. Things were not in place anymore; the organization she'd worked so hard to achieve was hit with a hurricane. Her memories and thoughts were scattered and all she could focus on was the wrongness.
"The blueprints are backwards! No one accounted for the books, and now the numbers don't match. The inside is too big for the outside to hold it all in and they'll never be able to find the drain!" River's babbling quickly dissolved into sobs, as she rocked herself and scrunched her eyes shut, even as the elevators doors swished open.
Jayne heard the screaming and nearly shot a hole in the wall. He stopped himself just short realizing he'd heard that scream before.
"Gorram Moonbrain girl!" he yelled. "That ain't gonna help our situation none," he grumbled as he stomped back to the elevator. He shifted his gun around so that it was across his back as he crouched down in front of River.
"Now don't hit me and stop yer screamin'. It's me."
Fighting to catch her breath and right herself - for all the fuss she made and nonsense she spoke, River was in fact very self aware - River found a moment to give Jayne a withering look. He was very complex for being so simple.
"I think I walked in your tracks -- they're too big." She mumbled in an accusatory tone, as if this was all Jayne's fault. She knew it wasn't but her head was splitting and she felt nauseous enough to--
River leaned forward and vomited onto Jayne's too-big boots. She looked up at him apologetically.
And his verbal ability stopped short right there because she puked all over his boots. He was just working up to righteously pissed--he liked those boots--when he looked up from his boots to see the apologetic look on River's face.
"Oh gorram hell...guess I've stepped in worse," he grumbled. He grabbed her bicep and started to lead her out of the elevator.
