Extra note: If there was a soundtrack for this, I imagine this playing in the background.

When the sun shone through the windows, Sam felt the distinct burn of guilt in his gut. The horror of the night had finally dimmed away but what had it cost? The light played over his legs where he leaned against the inner wall of the living room of Cabin D as he swallowed, trying to figure out what exactly had just happened. The too-sweet voices of two children had unnerved him deeply, especially considering that they spoke of matters that unsettled him. 'Playing?' They determined what the residents had just suffered through 'playing'? The sudden silence that followed did nothing to break the tense, unsure aire he could feel from those around him. With a slight shudder, more in lieu of the sudden transformation of the world around him rather than the fact that despite his best efforts, he was soaked again. However, he was alive, sick and confused, but alive. As he watched the light continue to travel up the wall as the sun rose from the ashes of the horizon, his mind fell to one thing.

The last time he had seen Dean was when the older hunter had decided to attempt to stay and fight the Cerberus, as was the Winchester way. But, even despite sitting next to Ruby, Castiel, and Sitara, the younger hunter couldn't help but feel a lack of completion, an empty, anxious hole in his chest that only augmented the pain already residing there in the form of pneumonia, without his brother. Where was he? Was he injured? Was he d--- no, Sam told himself. He couldn't think about that. But, he was in no shape to be getting up to move anywhere, much less going on a search for his brother. Instead, the younger Winchester elected to press his mouth into a concerned frown and stare intently at the door, as if simply hoping and wishing would bring Dean through the front door. He fought off the desire to sleep in the desperate desire to see his brother, to make sure he was alright and safely in one piece.

"Please," Sam prayed quietly, his jaw tensing nervously as his eyelids drooped to half-mast.
