Why Liberals Are Professors
Since one poster brought in an article claiming it was typcasting, I felt it was best to post this article http://chronicle.com/blogPost/Faculties-Are-Liberal-Because/20558, which is on a study showing that conservatives simply don't seek positions teaching higher education.
And as a personal comment, this study reminded me of the personality typologies on the Kiersey Briggs personality test. I have a book on it somewhere and how it relates to teaching, and it showed that different personalities are attracted to teaching at different age levels. Makes me wonder if a similar study were done of elementary school if it wouldn't turn up more conservatives teaching, as "Traditionalists" like teaching there but not at higher levels.
