I was admitted to what I now, in hindsight, recognize as "my top choice." Unfortunately, I chose not to attend.

I don't drink alcohol.

And the mistake was not enrolling in the Ivy League program into which I was accepted.

That was me too. I thought I was being very brave and wise to attend my third choice over the first (I didn't get into the second). Nothing but regrets starting from a month into the program.
