Does anyone know anything about the general reliabilty/ prestiege of Nebula: A Journal of Multidisciplinary Scholarship? The CV of its contributers checks out OK, but its .biz suffix (which I have not encountered thus far) unaccountably worries me.

Are the essays it publishes any good?

I'm hesitant to provide comment on quality, being very new at the publishing game myself.
That said, I *am* comparing it to another journal in the field. Whenever both journals cover the same subject matter, Journal B's articles have better prose. But that's just a stylistic thing, yeah? Both have provided me with insights and little epiphanies.

Have a look at the Editorial Board and see whether you recognise any of the names and respect them.

Here's an old website, if it helps.
http://www.iiav.nl/ezines/web/Nebula/2004-2006/nobleworld/journalhome.html

Also, if you have access to WorldCAT, you can check their records on there. Only about 289 libraries subscribe to it, which is pretty pitiful. It's OCLC # is:61661793

The red flag for me? One of its descriptors in WorldCAT is 'popular culture'...

I have published a couple of articles in Nebula, and it was recommended to me by an senior academic that I have a lot of respect for. They were good to work with and had a fast turnaround.

One of the articles was submitted by the university I was working at for the 2008 research assessment exercise (RAE) in the UK. There have been a couple of references to the articles in other academic journals.

I think it is a pretty reputable journal. Although I have to agree that the .biz is a bit off putting.
