quick question about reference in bibliography

In my bibliography, I have a short story in a short story collection:
E.M. Forster. 1987 [1971]. "The Other Boat". In Forster, E.M. 1987 [1971]. The Life to Come and Other Short Stories. New York and London: W. W. Norton & Company, Inc: 166-197.
The story was written 1913-1958: should I put it in brackets like this: [c. 1913-1958] or [c. 1913-1958] or [c. 1913-1958]? And where should it go? After [1971]?
