A humble audience?

I spoke with a professor at my uni, and she gave me a book to read titled: What the best college teachers do (can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/What-Best-College-Teachers-Do/dp/0674013255)

I'm only 99 pages into it (I got it yesterday at noon), but I'm fascinated. I'm enthralled--it's well written and interesting material. I plan to finish it in the next day or two.

The major conclusions of the book followed from these broad questions:

1.What do the best teachers know and understand?
2. How do they prepare to teach?
3. What do they expect of their students?
4. What do they do when they teach?
5. How do they treat students?
6. How do they check their progress and evaluate their efforts?

This is somewhat meant for humor (as I know how funny you people can be) and somewhat serious.

How would you, wise and learned professors, answer those questions?

teaching, how-to-guides, pedagogy
