I'm studying abroad in England for the year and I want to apply for an internship in London, probably for an MP or a non-profit. That being said, most want CVs and cover letters, but I have no idea about how to write a CV, much less what to include in it or how to format it. I've written a long-winded resume for trying to get jobs during the summer in the States, but that's about it.
So from your expertise on the matter, what kind of CV should I go for when applying for an internship like these (targeted, skills-based, academic, chronological)? Where do I need to be brief and where should I be descriptive? Do I need to attach a copy of my transcripts? Are cover letters written/formatted differently in the UK than in the US? Is that a really stupid question?
I'm an undergraduate with majors in English and international/globalization studies (emphasis on Europe), and a minor in French. I'm just sort of afraid that because I've focused more on 'English' oriented activities outside of class that I won't be completely desirable, despite my enthusiasm.
Thanks for all the help, and for the previous help with my electrical plugs situation. :)
