I, in my Donnean daze, am going to go ahead and lay claim to my right to post here, undergrad or no undergrad. Anything to procrastinate

great! i've got friends who are absolutely in love with them, so i've become extremely intrigued! (and they have nothing to do with my field/research or school in general, unless you count that magic school they attend...)
It's much bigger than just magic. :) The story tells a classic tale of good vs. evil. I've read all but the newest one at least twice. (I haven't gotten around to re-reading the last one yet.) They're long, but they move really quickly.
Me too, my friends are all raving about Harry Potter. I'm actually waiting until I get paid from my summer job so I can buy the boxed set and book #6 all together. I like to have things complete. Yes, I am anal like that.
I have the most recent two books sitting on my shelf waiting for me to finish my first two chapters. By the time I get the chapters drafted, I'll have to re-read the earlier books before the others will make any sense!

Ooh, I love it when people who haven't read HP before, begin the series. When I reccomend them to anyone, I feel like I'm sharing something really awesome. I may be a bit over-zealous, but I love them. My whole family loves them. In fact, my father, an attorney, used several Harry Potter references in a lecture he gave ("Defence Against the Dark Arts" a series for plaintiff's attornesy), and reprimanded those who didn't catch the allusions. He told his audience that Harry Potter is not only culturally important, but a great deal of fun. The ideas Rowling forwards through her chearacters keep my family happy four hours of over-dinner discussions.
