Newbie
Just joined the community because it sounds like it's right up my alley. I'm a third year doctoral candidate and have just begun to have "The Talk" with the husband. I'm really interested in reading everyone's posts and getting a more comprehensive viewpoint of balancing parenting and an academic career.
Also, I have a quick question--if it's not appropriate, I apologize. I currently have health insurance for me, but getting maternity insurance seems tricky. My husband is self-employed. I probably will no longer be a student by the time/if I do actually become pregnant, so I would not be eligible for care at the student health center. Does anyone have any suggestions of where I might turn for adequate, trustworthy maternity insurance (that doesn't make you wait a year) or else affordable, non-insurance-based care?
