Yoyojedi's recent post = weird because I finally read Speaker for the Dead (after an Ender's Game reread) and feel like I have been carrying it around with me all week.

I guess it would be ridiculous to say how good I thought it was. I always have these revelations about things everyone else has done and gotten over with ages ago.

But anyway, I actually read two books recently that felt like revelations and made me want to live my life differently. How great is that?

The first, as mentioned, was Speaker for the Dead, which made me want to transcend myself and find ways to be an infinitely more compassionate being.

The second was The Omnivore's Dilemma (Michael Pollan), which made me want to trancend modernity and the horrific, souless industry that has subverted the way we eat and therefore one of the most fundamental connections we have to the earth.

P.S. Surprise, surprise, both books made me cry. Both books talked about piggies. Weird.

no more corn, piggies, ender, revelations
