starstillwonder, si_end_ght, missfemmefatale- actually, anyone who is willing to give an opinion on women's lit- I have a question.

For the first part of my final in women's literature, I have select one short story, one short play, OR two poems that I think should be included in a poetry, drama and short fiction anthology that several instructors at my school are putting together. As my assignment says, "These works need not be by women, but should portray various roles or images of women discussed in class, or focus on women in relationships with others... These works must be in English (though they may be translated from another language) and must have been previously published. Sources would include short story or poetry collections, literature anthologies, and literary magazines. The Internet can be a source if the work has previously been published elsewhere."

Right now, I'm conflicted as to what to choose. I'm waffling back and forth from poems by Dorothy Parker or a short story by Francesca Lia Block. I don't have any concrete ideas for a particular work of theirs, but I'm going to try and find my Parker collection and Girl Goddess #9 before I leave for work. Neither of these authors were featured in my current course, and I feel they both write exceptionally well.

So... what do y'all think? Bitter man-hating, alcohol indulging women, or vibrant coming-of-age in Los Angeles girls? Or any suggestions for other authors of your own? I'm so overwhelmed by my workload for my other 5 classes, any comments on this to help me settle my mind would be most appreciated.
