Coronet - sort of

Sep 22, 2008 12:31

Ok so you all know how it went down. The only difference is that for me I was at a weird angle and honestly did not know that Brian had struck either blow on Johannes until he fell down! My stomach was in knots. As much as I always envied the consorts being brought up to watch the finals I have to admit I don't like not being there when B comes off the field between fights. I had no idea if his head was in the right place after losing the first round... Anyway, thanks to all who have offered help and who have been so sweet to us so far. I am really looking forward to the next few months.

Here is what I posted on myspace if you're interested.

This story is mostly for my non-SCA friends, so they can have the slightest idea of how much this means to me and how BIG it is!

***************************************

Ok so my story begins almost 17 years ago. My brother finally drug me to my first SCA event. Jordan was 5 months old. It was Midwinter's Feast in Adiantum. I'd laughed at him and his silly D&D friends in their silly clothes for a long time. Anyway I went and I had a slightly good time. Didn't end up going to a camping event for a little over a year, that was Dregils...miserable but fairly fun. Anyway, I was assimilated into my brother's household, the Argent Flame, and was one of the original members of the now defunct House deGrey. Then I moved to Atlantia (DC).

After returning home I dabbled a little bit, going to Egils a couple times then started participating in full force around the time I decided I was done with my on and off relationship with Jordan's dad (coincidence? probably not). That very same weekend I was reintroduced to a super cute guy who I thought I would have no interest in. I loved tall, skaters, punk rockers, tatoos, piercings, etc. this guy? Fit none of those categories...he was a former football player, bull rider, Army Ranger, etc. SO not my type. But those eyes, staring at me from across the Westie party at AWW...they intrigued me...he got me to ignore the silly "boy" with the piercings and the cloven banana saying "LOVE ME" on it, we talked until dawn and he convinced me to go to Coronation.

At Coronation there was the first kiss and he asked if he could fight for me. I hadn't watched much fighting but was like, "Sure!" I'd watched Davin and Groa step up that day and it was magical! I wanted that, but must admit when I was told if anyone in our camp could make me queen on day it was Brian it frightened me a little.

So now after 9 years of watching him grow as a person and as a fighter, watching him learn not to over think, not to critique himself so harshly on the field, I get to sit on the thrones with him as his Princess. And what was I thinking when they but the Tanist coronets on us??? "Yay we get to rule with Vik and Inga!" LOL Yeah I'm a dork...but that's ok I'll be a Royal Dork!
