Gah. You faked me out. I thought they were real, even though I read the summary and everything, but then I had to go back and read the summary again, and still. They could be real. All of them. They are, somewhere through the mirror.

Yeah, I was worried a bit. It's sloppy story-telling to need my title or summary for the fic to work but there wasn't really a way to work it in otherwise, unfortunately.

And, yeah, in some quantum reality, to some other Daniel, these could all be real. That's the beauty of playing "what if?"

All of these are just... wow. The charm of the messages the year he was gone, and the weariness of Moebius!Daniel and the grimness of apoca!Daniel and the almost-missed-it redemption of his reputation and Teal'c and Daniel quietly walking through the Gate to avenge their teammates...

But then.

I had an idea - there are some ways in which I can predict your reaction to story elements :)

I actually wrote the Sha're snippet first but it wanted to be last - after Janet's voice mail and to give a bittersweet happy/sad final note.

So glad you liked it! Now would you tell Daniel to let me write my teamfic already please?

I just hope he drove safely enough to get to the SGC, heh. LOVED it to pieces.

And it's not as if Daniel is actually cooperating with my teamfic any more than he apparently is with yours. He keeps on insisting Jack try the stuffed grape leaves. Very unhelpful, Daniel.

I'm not sure honestly if it's Daniel who is uncooperative or the team or my brain.
Stuffed graped leaves are yummy! Daniel has good ideas there.

Oh ow. Wow. That was...that just hurt in all the right ways.

From the voice mails to Ascended Daniel threading through the whole thing (that last one: oh Sam) to each and every one of those phone calls that never happened, it just resonated. Moebius-team calling was chilling. The validation of Daniel's theories was bittersweet because it never happened. SG-1 coming home to him broken like that nearly made me cry. And the last one with Sha're just twisted it a little more, because it was sweet and painful because Daniel never got that happy ending.

And the voice mails that, quite honestly, could have happened. But Daniel never got them, did he?

Exactly what I was trying to go for - the voice mails did happen but he never got them, where the phone calls just never happened for him to get.

Yay! It's already posted. I like the subtle changes you've made. It was awesome before, but polished up it's real nice.

I'm very glad you wrote it.

Now can you go write the other team fic? Pretty please? ;-) And after that you can do that Sam & Vala story splash_the_cat keeps poking you for. :-)

Yes, teamfic now too, please (I'm not greedy. Oh no)

But no regrets, because the Season Six calls still break my heart the mostest. And then the alternate happy ending with Sha're where he's so bouncy, or the Moebius one with one so jaded and one so trusting (I still want to see more to this one and the evilKinsey one) and the mission gone so wrong and Daniel and Teal'c wanting to make it right and and...getting credit in his profession!
