Oooh. I like that very much. IT's haunting and eerie and sad. Lovely work.

Thanks. I didn't really want it to be sad since, reunions ought to be at least partly happy, but this came out instead.
I'm glad you liked it! And thanks for offering up the challenge.

Oh. My. Word.

Brilliant. This is a fantastic exploration of the characters. That is such a Daniel thing to do and Sam's POV is spot on. Daniel is just the perfect mix of creepy, almost fanatical devotion to his plan and understanding of what he's doing. What he's asking Sam to do.

Daniel shakes his head. "The forest may complain, but it knows the oncoming storm is necessary for life."

And you got the Oma!speak right on. ;)

You tied together all of these little bits of the Stargate myth into this fantastic what-if story and it's just great.

:) I think it's possible I may subconsciously spun off of your reunion fic - the idea of Daniel running of and doing something extreme for the cause.

Daniel is always nothing if not supremely confident in his own beliefs and when you mix in the guilt complex, this came out...

And you got the Oma!speak right on. ;)

Whee! I felt a little like Daniel's comment to Shifu in "Aboslute Power" - "really, cause, uh, I was just making that up."
I never thought I could write Oma!Speak because, honestly, I don't usually understand Oma!Speak. But once I started it just kept coming.

I'm so glad to hear it worked! (I didn't know if I was contradicting anything past what I've seen). Thanks for commenting!

*g* Well, the nice thing about your Oma!speak is that it's actually comprehensible. I don't understand canon Oma!speak at all. But neither do the characters, so I don't feel bad about that. ;)

I tried to write Oma once and it didn't go very well. She's a hard character to get right.

Well, that's because it's Daniel!Oma!Speak, and I'm not convinced Daniel really understands canon Oma!Speak either, so he might be more comprehensible :)

Wow, even trying to write Oma sounds incredibly brave. I don't think I could do it.

Oh! This is gorgeous. I wasn't expecting Daniel's decision but it makes so much sense. I really like how you bring in early SG-1 adventures as Sam travels to find Daniel and the hints of destruction the Ori have brought to the galaxy. While it is not happy, there is still hope yet it is also bittersweet. And yeah for Sam/Dan friendship!

Once Daniel decides on a course of action, you know he's going to go all the way with it.

I always kinda thought, once they got access to ships, Daniel would try to get back to Ernest's planet, you know? He so didn't want to leave.

I'm glad the hope came through - because it's bad, but they aren't giving up and they may need to make that ultimate sacrifice but it'll be for a better future.

I'm all about the Sam/Daniel friendship (um, if that hasn't already been obvious). Though, I kinda wish my ideas would branch out beyond them sometimes.

I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for commenting.

OMG...CRIES. AMAZING!
Wow...I just loved the whole feel of it, just indescribably sad. And like, wow, I never imagined that this could be a possible ending, but it's so imaginative, like...Daniel training others to ascend..wow. And I loved how the years were counted, and each heroic leave was exact to character.
Purely a masterpiece!

It seems like Daniel remembers something now, after Threads, and certainly has some concept of where the path leads - I could see him working himself to this, devoting to this cause he thinks is the only way.

I'm glad you liked it and it worked for you. Thanks for commenting!
