What a bleak place to end up. An interesting vignette. Very atmospheric which is one of my favorite things. :-)

Yeah, spending the day pissed off about global warming reports and then staying up way too late apparently makes me write weird, bleak ideas - but it popped into my head and wouldn't let me sleep until I wrote it.

Atmospheric stories are of the awesome.

I really like this; you manage to show the creepiness that the characters feel without going over the top. I really like the penultimate line b/c we are so used to seeing Jack as unflappable. very nicely done.

Thanks!
Yeah, Jack is pretty unflappable on the outside, but you know he must lock it all in instead.

Oooh. Bleak and bitter, especially Daniel's anguish at everything that's gone... and the comfort of their being together, and there for each other, at the end. Very nice.

Yeah...I got a bit bitter about the UN report on global warming, started thinking how it would suck if we managed to wipe ourselves out before we got to develop space travel and meet aliens (no, I don't understand how my mind works) and suddenly this came out of it.

But I had to give them comfort at the end. You can only handle so much bleak :)

very well done, especially in painting the picture of this graveyard world. Jack and Daniel's reactions were spot-on-- they seemed very right. Thanks for sharing this.

Thanks! It's a lot darker than what I usually write but it was fun creating the atmosphere. And yay to characterization that works for other people!

Glad you liked it.

That gave me goosebumps. Very atmospheric. Some things even SG-1 can't brush off easily, or find funny - I guess that's what makes them the Good Guys.

"They're all dead," he whispered, while Jack was still reaching a hand to his shoulder.

"I know," Jack told him.

*shivers*

Geez, you're on a comment spree today :)

Yeah, I think this ficlet is why I shouldn't stay up way late after reading the UN report on Global Warming.

And, good point - I think that *is* what makes them the good guys.

Glad you, um, liked it (in the creep-ifying way)

I am! I looked at the roundup lists, and checked how many I'd commented on, and was appalled. So expect more from me this evening. I'm on a mission. *g*
