Awk!

*is speechless*

This is a work of art. It is a truly beautiful look at Daniel and the women he loves, and who love him. And of course I love the speculative bits about he and Sam, but it's so much bigger than that. I don't even know what to say. Just... wow. Fantastic writing.

And I'm reccing S/D for ficrecs this month... *dances*

I made you squawk!

I'm glad you liked it - it was fun, if a bit surprising to write. I had this sudden image in my head of Daniel tracing protective charms with his fingers onto Sam's back and it all exploded from there. And then I looked at it and said "I just put Sam and Daniel in bed together. But I write Gen!"

I'm glad it worked - I wasn't always sure I was getting everything across without falling too deep into the angst/melodrama.

Thanks so much for the rec and reading and commenting and all that jazz.

Heh! Ah well. So you're all about the Gen except when you're not. And that's fine. :)

I'm that way with het and slash. I'm all about the het except when I'm not.

I think I'm all about canon - so since the show doesn't give me Sam/Daniel as canon, I have trouble writing it. (so, for Firefly, for instance, I'd have no trouble shipping Zoe/Wash (het-wise) or, well Daniel/Sha're in Stargate). Um. Does that make sense? Mostly, it's important to me for my stories to not contradict canon (and I realize canon doesn't expressedly tell us "Sam and Daniel and Jack are not having hot three-some sex every night").

But there is a part of me that really believes that, given the right circumstance, Sam and Daniel really could happen which, I think, is why I could write this. Maybe.

Wow. Got here via surrealphantast's rec and WOW. The contrast with Daniel's parents is visceral, dude. Of course he's surprised, of course he finds it sad. WOWOWOWOWOW.

I'll have to rec this too, I think.

Thanks!
The contrast with Daniel's parents surprised me when I wrote it. The story was supposed to be all about Sha're and Sarah and Sam but I realized it all tied into that one formative experience he had as a child.

I'm really glad to hear you liked it. Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment.

Here via surrealphantast, and I'm so glad. This is absolutely beautiful, both the beauty in it and the pain in it. Thank you for writing it and sharing it.

I'm glad you saw the beauty along with the pain because even with everything that happened there is still beauty and love and everything else, even when it hurts.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

Oh, wow. This is fantastic. All of the threads of the story are woven together perfectly. It's rare to see stories that address Daniel/Sarah or Daniel/Sha're in a realistic way. Very, very nice. :)

I loved this part especially.

All she asks is that he love her completely, and all she gives is the same in return. He manages for a year. Later he finds irony in how badly he failed at a task that should be so elementary.

I'm so glad the weaving worked - it can be tricky jumping time tracks so frequently.
The Sarah surprised me a bit - I wasn't entirely sure where I was going with her when I started writing it, and I definitely discovered something about her in the process. I'm glad to hear it felt believable to someone who isn't inside my head.

I'm so glad you liked it. Thanks so much for reading and commenting.
(and also thanks for the sd_ficathon because this is totally me warming up in excitement for it)

This is beautiful. I love the feel of this and the way you switch between each of the viewpoints in time. And the end just about broke my heart.

Thanks!
Playing with backstory and weaving points from different timelines together has always been a weakness of mine (it's a frequent presence in many of my older Band of Brothers stories). I suppose it was only a matter of time for me to do it with Stargate.
I'm glad it worked and I'm sorry I broke your heart. Poor Daniel needs such a big hug.

thanks for reading and commenting!

speaking of BoB... you got to check out at least the stills from 300... Michael Fasserbender (Christiansen) is in it and gawds... he looks really yummy.

Hee :)
I was about the only person in BoB fandom who didn't drool over Christenson (seriously, it was a running thing - they'd all talk about how amazing he was, I'd be confused and ask why, they'd not be able to explain).

But I do admit he's pretty...will have a look.
