SUMMARY: Kiku somehow forgot his keys--he ends up getting a house... and maybe a lover.
NOTES: Thanks, Zenna-chan, for being my beta~
Kiku, for all that he did and was, somehow managed to lock himself out of his own apartment. It didn’t make sense, as he always made sure he had his keys, but it might’ve had something to do with the fact that Heracles had just visited when he realized he had to run to the store.
“How do I get in?” He sounded so confused, so lost, but he honestly wasn’t that good at picking locks. He could try, but he highly doubt that he would be able to break in without breaking the door down.
That was another option-to break the door down. He knew that he had the ability to do that, taking martial arts since he was ten, but he would most likely get reprimanded for breaking property that wasn’t his own.
There was one last option, on that he wasn’t that eager to follow through-he could ask his neighbor for shelter for the night, and then he would go to his house to break in the following morning. At the least, he would be able to go to the landlord’s housing, and ask for a spare key.
As it was mentioned, he wasn’t that eager to go through the last option, so he tried to go through with the first one. He pulled out some items that shouldn’t be kept on anyone, but he found that he couldn’t get the door to unlock.
As much as he wanted to, he knew he couldn’t break the door down-it would only cause him problems and a sore fist. It wasn’t that he was afraid of the landlord; it was that there was a problem with having to deal with the fact that he would have to deal with the problems that would surely follow him once he went through with what he planned. He had no doubt that he’d have to deal with the police, and that he’d have to go through some other legal troubles before he could move on with his life.
That was how he found himself in front of his neighbor’s door, knocking and asking for permission to stay for the night. It was a bit awkward at the beginning-he was too busy stuttering to really notice that Heracles had fallen asleep-but Kiku finally managed to calm himself enough to get some rest.
It wasn’t until the morning that things got a bit… uncomfortable. Kiku, not realizing that Heracles hosted a bunch of cats, nearly stepped on three of them before he managed to make it to the door. It was when he was about to leave that he realized that the landlord was out for the rest of the week-he was taking a trip to Washington DC to visit his old friend.
It was with renewed vigor that he found himself trying to break into his own house. With some difficulty and some loss of time, he managed to break into his own house-somehow he wasn’t able to do this the other night. It was a bit awkward, entering the apartment as if he was a criminal, but that’s how he felt as he broke in.
He was so preoccupied with cleaning up, and with clearing his mind, that he didn’t notice someone else entering his apartment-he didn’t even realize that he left the door open until he heard it shut. He turned to face the invader, but froze when he saw a very familiar face.
He barely got the words out, but he did. “Heracles, it’s nice to see you.” He felt as if that was a lie-his heart was thumping erratically, and his head was pounding. He was feeling nervous, and he could feel what people called “butterflies” in his stomach.
“You forgot this,” he heard Heracles mumble. The Greek’s voice reminded him of someone who had just recently woken up, and he figured that his recognition was pretty close to the truth. His attention was on the thing in Heracles’ hand-it was his phone.
He knew that he was becoming more airheaded, but this was like a slap-forgetting his phone at Heracles house made him realize how distant, almost oblivious, he was becoming. It was only because he was at Heracles house, he was certain, that he forgot about his phone.
“Thank you very much, Heracles,” he murmured as he bowed. There was something about the way Heracles was acting that made him nervous, but he was almost certain that it was only because he was so intrigued by him that Kiku would notice such a thing.
Before he could react, Heracles had already crossed the room, and was standing right behind him. It was only for a second, but he swore he saw nervousness (and maybe fear) in the Greek’s gaze. He couldn’t think about that for long as Heracles was suddenly kissing him.
It was soft, it was sweet, but it still left Kiku breathless. He looked into Heracles eyes, and asked something that would not only change their relationship, but maybe do something as drastic like changing their lives. “Would you like to go out, Heracles-san?”
