Mm. I think computer size is inversely proportional to the magnitude of sound produced.

Take laptops, for example...

This is quite possibly true. For example, aside from printer and scanner (which really don't count anyway) the loudest computer related thing I have is my external hard drive. Which is also one of the smallest.

Printers are pretty noisy though.

But the sad noise that computer make when their HDD crashes is quite depressing. And stressful.

I had a ZOMBpanic!! moment before my Year 11 Chem exam, when my HDD really did die. I hadn't backed up anything since the middle of the year.

Sorry, I was at work and someone was coming. The rest of the sentence should've been something along the lines of "they come back to life."

But yes, I sympathise. My HDD crashed (really randomly) in the middle of year 12. I never /quite/ recovered, even now (bought teh computer).
