It was gradually happening, but I have to admit I miss people.
Factors:
- Global politics
- Latest season of Game of Thrones
- A ride-sharing app was put into a one-month suspension, and I had to find out other means to get to work
It's really unfortunate that Facebook is probably the only form of socializing in the modern, urban world, that can "sustain" "friendships," but I was really done with the whole thing.
So, I had to sneak-activate my Facebook account for some days this month. As of writing, it still is.
What I discovered:
- I have awesome friends that I would very much like to meet in person again
- I have not-so-awesome, terrible people on my "Friends" list
- So-and-so met/broke up/is having a child/ is getting married/has got an awesome job/achieved a postgraduate education/traveling, still
- Real/fake/half-and-half news
- Social media is toxic, time-consuming, and taking a break is a great decision
In short, despite everything, life is still happening.
I miss people.
However, for sanity, I still have to deactivate again (and sneak-activate at times, for science).
