Everything I Can Remember - Mark/Lexie, PGlexiesloanMay 25 2010, 14:26:08 UTC
I really wasn't planning on writing anything just because... yeah, it's all shit, but I hope you like this, Liz.
...
She stands there in the kitchen of the apartment that used to be theirs - and in the back of his mind, it still is - her fingers fidgeting in front of her - a nervous habit of hers that he had picked up on during their relationship and he’s relieved to see that she still does it. Her hair may be blonde now and she may seem a little older, a little quieter, but she’s still Lexie and there are parts of her that he still knows.
“I didn’t…” she starts to say and she then shakes her head, tears in her eyes. “I think about you. All of the time and I can’t…”
Mark goes to her then because right now, that’s enough for him. He hugs her and she still smells like strawberries like she always does. He closes his eyes as he feels her slim arms slip around his waist and he holds her as closely and tightly as he can. She still feels the same against him and he wonders if she realizes it, too. Her breath is warm against the side of his neck and he can feel her hip bones as he presses their bodies together. This hug feels exactly like the dozens of hugs shared between them and Mark doesn’t want to let her go anytime soon. He isn’t sure how he did it the first time. He should have fought more. He should have talked to her. He should have done a lot of things.
But he’s changed, too. He’s quieter and older and he knows that Lexie’s it for him.
The old Mark would have kept that to himself but now, he tells it to her softly in her ear and when she lifts her head, tilting her chin to look up at him, one of the tears slips past her lashes and slowly trails down her cheek. But the faintest smile begins to pull at the corners of her lips and he smiles because she still smiles and cries at the same time and it’s just one more thing about her that he knows hasn’t changed.
Her hands goes to his cheeks and he’s growing his scruff back - she used to love his scruff and he hopes that she still does - and his hands go to her cheeks and their lips meet at the same time. She sighs as she always does during their first initial kiss and melts into him and Mark traces her lower lip with his tongue before thrusting it into her mouth, tasting her deeply. She still tastes the same and he’s never been happier about something.

LOVED IT! Quit worrying! I adore your Mark & Lexie.
"But he’s changed, too. He’s quieter and older and he knows that Lexie’s it for him." I really felt this on the show. He's made that decision, from his beautiful words to Lexie, to the fact that he told Alex he would eat more bacon (leaving off the part about having more sex, which to me meant that he's only interested in Lexie, not a large quantity of lovers), to the fact that even though his heart was broken, he was still by her side throughout the whole ordeal and when they went to check on Alex. So I really do think that you nailed his feelings. Lexie is it for him. He just has to be patient for her to come to him, which you allowed to happen here. Great job!

Oh, I didn't think about that with the bacon and sex scene but gosh, it would be so amazing if that's what he meant and it would make perfect sense. More sex - but only with Lexie. She really is it for him and I hope he doesn't forget that next season. Thanks for reading, Holly! Mark isn't known for being patient or for not having a fragile ego but my fingers will remain crossed for them.

This is really beautiful. I nice, tender reunion, and you pick up on all the things I love about them -- his quiet conviction and her blatant apprehension. Very good.

So, even though I said I wouldn't, I clearly caved and wrote something. I'm glad you liked this :) And thank you for this drabble-a-thon. These are always fun.
