sabriel_0405 She was so still, so pale. The steady beeps of the machines were the only surety he had that she lived. Jean-Claude wouldn’t let her die, not if he had the strength to prevent it. As soon as she hit the headstone and he heard the crack, he had called Jean-Claude. The bullets hadn’t even stopped flying. But he couldn’t take the chance that their shields were too well in place. The tears slipped slowly down his cheeks. He didn’t hold them back because he knew once she woke, there could be no more tears. She didn’t view them as a sign of weakness but rather as a sign of how much he cared. It scared her to know. Nathaniel would have to cry for them both. It bothered Micah that this weekend had been so contentious between them. Though they had resolved her concerns in a most satisfying and exhausting way. She completed him in ways he never even hoped to experience. Watching her put herself in the line of fire gave new meaning to fear. But he would never ask her to stop, to be less than who she was. That was what it meant to be Nimir-Raj.
