Title: Woman Scorned
Word count: 100
Characters/pairings: Melanie
Challenge: #63, Bad guys
It was always most apparent on waking. Alone.
She was used to the warm press of bodies, limbs entangled with hers, the low murmur of voices. Anita had all that now. But she didn’t need to flaunt it. The least she could do is offer to share. Melanie would have made the offer. She did make the offer.
And then Anita killed them all. Her beloved Raju, her harem.
Since the tables had turned, it was high time that Anita knew how the lamia felt. What the necromancer failed to realise was that snakes were patient predators. Melanie could wait.
Title: The Same Coin
Word count: 100
Characters/pairings: Gabriel
Challenge: #63, Bad guys
Author's note: After rereading his death in The Killing Dance, it’s…actually kinda plausible that Anita didn’t really kill Gabriel. He could have survived and he’s just itching to take back his pard. Not to mention, have all kinds of creepy obsessiveness with Anita.
Gabriel groaned - half in pleasure, half in pain - as he pulled the knife from his torso. He wished he had eyes to see his blood staining the blade. His chest felt tight and something inside gurgled. Blood was a wet caress on his skin.
Damn, she was good.
He wasn’t sure what burned more; the silver, the injury, or the lust. He could still smell her fear, hear her heart thunder in his ears, taste her desire. She wanted it as much as he did. Deny it as she might, Anita Blake was a woman right after his own heart.
