Richard loves his work. He always has. Sure, the kids can be real brats sometimes, but he still loves it. Just the thought that he is giving his pupils what they need to become a valuable part of society will sometimes sustain him through a whole day. That, and the constant smell of nature.
But sometimes nothing is enough. Sometimes he wonders how they fail to notice his lies, his hypocrisy. When he talks to them about self-respect and tells them that every person is worth something. When they talk about ethics, monsters and murderers.
Then the work becomes torture.
