sabriel_0405 Time did not heal all wounds. Some, given time, turned toxic. Others healed but with insurmountable scar tissue. Asher struggled to release the first and accept the second. He hadn’t realized how much he had missed Jean-Claude until he had forgiven him. The hatred that had eaten him from within had not dissipated immediately. He was wary of the friendship Jean-Claude offered freely. Wary of the desire he saw in Anita’s eyes. Still, he relished all the firsts. The first kiss, the first touch, the first taste of her blood. It was decadent, a feast for his senses. That he could no longer remember the taste of Julianna’s life force saddened him. He thought it might have made him reckless. He had almost killed Anita. Not for revenge. Not even for the pleasure. He was searching for that last drop of something that made him whole and for which he would kill to feel again. He had told Anita that the way she looked at him had healed something deep within him. She showed him that she found him beautiful with her touch and her kiss and her trust. Maybe it took the passage of time for him to believe.
