What's new with me?
Well, on Friday I went to Connecticut with the boyfriend and my sister. We stopped at a cute little aquarium in Norwalk which was, unfortunately, overtaken by a gaggle of screaming obnoxious private-school children. If it weren't for them I think I would have stayed at the aquarium all day, in fact, I think I might just want to live in an aquarium someday! They even have some funky rays there in a touch tank, which Janelle and I stuck our hands into. Rays feel slimy and kind of rubbery. These ones looked like flat little sharks.
Anyway, then we got back on the highway and drove to IKEA in New Haven. Ahh... IKEA! My new favorite store! I think I want to live there too. :) I know, aren't I horrible ... loving an evil leech mega chain? Yeah, drive a stake through my heart.... I guess I'm just a mindless sheep following the generic cookie cutter masses, what can I say? I'm just sorry that I didn't have more money to spend while I was there.
After glorious IKEA I turned on my super Rand McNally skills (yeah, I can pretty much find my way from here to there with no map involved, no matter where I am) and drove through some industrial-ish and then residential areas of New Haven until I found a pretty beach with a lighthouse for us to check out. We arrived there just as the sun was setting. Unfortunately I was at the end of my roll of film so I didn't get too many pictures while I was there. Before it got too dark out we scavenged through the heaps of shells and things in the sand, looking for pretty souvenirs to bring home. That reminds me - I still have a bunch of shells and beach glass in my bag that I need to empty out before it starts smelling like low tide in there!
On Sunday I did something completely new and unusual (for me anyway). I joined a gym! My friend and I were talking about joining one that's not too far from my house, so she decided to go for it last week. If she hadn't joined first I probably never would have because I'm just a wimp like that. She seemed to like it the first few times she went so I figured it's now or never. I went in with her on Sunday evening and after signing up, she showed me how to use the Elliptical (I think that is what it's called) and we worked out for 30 minutes. We went back again yesterday after work, and exercised for another 30 minutes. I think a half hour is my limit for right now because I'm so out of shape. At first I felt all self conscious and nervous, but everyone there seems to keep to themselves so I feel a lot more comfortable there than I thought I would. Hopefully I will stick with this and won't just let it become something else to add to my procrastination list. It was only about $40 to join and $10 per month after that, so it's a really good deal even though it isn't a huge gym, but it's good enough for now.
