can't they pass a domestic partnership law like you see popping up all over? i think it gives the same benefits...

I'm not sure if that's a step they would take afterwards if this amendment went through or not. I think the basic idea is that some lawmakers want to see to it that it's impossible for same sex couples to be married or joined in any way. But I suppose it's possible that they would at least allow for civil unions.

hmm. i disagree with gay marriage but i don't see why we can't make an alternative....guess that makes me an old stinge , eh?

I definitely do agree with same sex marriage because I think not allowing it would be no different than telling all blacks, or Native Americans, or elderly or any other sort of minority in this country that they couldn't get officially married.

That's just my opinion though. Everyone has different opinions & that's ok. I certainly don't expect everyone to agree with me or vice versa. Different points of view is what makes the world go 'round I guess. :)
