Why is going back to school such a difficult thing to do?

Ok, here's the deal:

This fall I will (or at least I hope I will) be taking classes full time at a community college that's about an hour or more away from here. I will be taking the classes on-line through SUNY. This is the same as if I were to attend classes in person at the college, the ( Read more... )

Ah punky, I can't offer any practical help - your college system is mystifying to me - but I do know that you'll be able to pull this off. Education is a worthy cause so there must be some way to get the cash. As for getting advice, my university had a student recruitment office (for getting students to come to the uni rather than getting them jobs at the end of it, if you see the difference) where they were all geared up for helping prospective students - do you have something similar there? They might be able to point you in the right directions for all your questions. Don't get too stressed about it - you will be fine!

Thanks Rosie :) Yeah, the college system here in the States is so crazy. I will have to look into that at my school to see if they have anything similar to what you are describing - sounds like a good idea. Maybe I should go study abroad, perhaps in England ;) I bet I would get more aid for that than I would for going to a local school!!

You really should come and study here - it's faboo! But they charge overseas students thousands of pounds more - it's insane! The maximum a UK student would pay when I was a uni (3 years ago) was a little over £1000 a year - I think for overseas students it's anywhere from £4000 to £17000!

When I win the lottery Skate, I'm going to buy you a ticket to England so you can come a see us all and play tourist - I can be your tour guide! Oh and I'll pay off your student fees for you too if you like!

Awww you're so sweet. And if I win the lottery I will do the same for you. :) I would love to go to England someday. Must be so nice there.... and boys with British accents. *Swoon*

My man has a proper posh English accent - he cracks me up sometimes because he says things like "jolly good" and "one hopes" (instead of "I hope")!
