Why is going back to school such a difficult thing to do?

Ok, here's the deal:

This fall I will (or at least I hope I will) be taking classes full time at a community college that's about an hour or more away from here. I will be taking the classes on-line through SUNY. This is the same as if I were to attend classes in person at the college, the ( Read more... )

Could you refinance your house and use the money for school this year? There's gotta be a way!

Well the house is in Cory's name and he got it at such a low interest rate to begin with I don't think he could get it any lower unfortunately, but that's a good thought.

It just seems so crazy that the government couldn't have given me a better loan, like $6000 for the semester rather than $2625! It's not like they won't be getting the money back... geesh!

hmm. when i got my fafsa stuff it was about the same price. what kind of loan is it?

i got a grant for being poor and a loan. and work study....

Thanks for the link Heather... that explains a lot. *grumble, grumble* :( I figured there had to be some other reason that I didn't receive anything else but one measily loan.

Kristen - I am pretty sure it's a Stafford Loan that I got. I was hoping I would get some kind of grant too, either from Federal or directly from the school but no such luck I guess.
