So....That Worked Out Well

Back in January, I boldly declared that I had returned to LJ "for real" for real and vowed to post regularly going forward.  Now here I am at least a good 8 weeks later sheepishly looking at a blank screen.  Oh well, better late than not at all right?

I've had a lot of random stuff swimming around in my mind lately with no real place to let them happen so I'll just dump it here and get it out of my head.

Occasionally I'll take a ride out to my brother's apartment, and on the way I pass a woman's clinic.  Outside every day is an elderly woman, slouched over a "walker on wheels" thingy with these huge magnified pictures of an aborted fetus attached to the front.  Now this is by no means unusual for any medical facility that performs pregnancy terminations, but what really burns my ass is the fact that she feels the need to walk over and greet the women getting out of their cars in the parking lot with this graphic display.  Granted she's allowed free speech under the Constitution, but what about a person's right to medical care without harassment?  Or how about the decency to not make what is likely an emotionally difficult time, even worse?  What about my right to not be traumatized every damn time I drive down 8 Mile Road?  I've never had an abortion, nor ever considered one but if I had I'm sure I wouldn't want/need that constant reminder.  And what about the fact that there are various other reasons why a woman may want to visit the clinic that have nothing to do babies/abortion/pregnancy?

I mean seriously, that may be the nicest old lady in the world, but if I was the one getting out of the car and she came creeping up to me...I doubt I'd be in the mindset to be very courteous to her.

Since when do your beliefs get to trump my right to be left the hell alone?

I had a very awkward experience today.  It was a situation where virtual life and real life intersected and it was definitely weird.  I have had so many instances where I have run into people I've only "met" online and it's so strange because you know so much about them, but you don't really "know" them.  More on that later.

I am totally obsessed with almond soap.  I can't get enough of the scent and I am constantly looking for the best inexpensive/great smelling ones.  Of all the things to go nuts over! (*rimshot, cymbal*)

And OMG, who knew??!!!  RICKY MARTIN IS TEH GEY!!!!!

In other news, water in its liquid form is wet, oh and the sun is hot. (*yawn*)

life, randomness, lj, entertainment, shopping, annoyances
