Its 4:20 AM, I am paying my proper respects to the cannibus god, and I realized how messed up my body is right now
Head - headache. Been on since yesterday. Its really annoying, but its not focused in the places I usually get headaches. Its not photosensitive, so its probably not migraine, but its not in the temples or back of the neck like tension. I'm not feverish, but it kinda feels like that. I just wish it would go away.
Right shoulder, issue one - my brachial neuropathy left several bands of muscle dead (this was in October), as well as a vastly weakened shoulder with incorrect scapular tracking that caused further pressure on the nerves. Although constant strengthening exercises have served to lessen the relentless aching, it is still there. Either I have lived to get used to it or it is finally getting better as I haven't been waking up from its throbbing lately.
Right shoulder, issue two - a nice, deep bone bruise thanks to Tamar - who may not even realize that each of the three times she kept pushing her chair back in the diner, she was kicking the corner of the back right into the crease of my shoulder. She was obviously too busy giving madman a massage to realize the reason the chair wasn't moving was that my shoulder was unintentionally blocking it at the tightly seated table. I called her name each time, but after the third I gave up and changed seats to avoid another blow and give her the room so she could concentrate on Mike. At least, I hope it was unintentional. Let her figure it out.
Right arm - I had very mild decompression illness (type 1) after a great dive - so great, I didn't watch my depth or air as I chased a turtle with a camera. So I probably have a tiny nitrogen bubble in my right arm. And every time the air pressure dips below a certain point, it starts to ache a little.
Right Hand - still some numbness in the thumb courtesy the neuropathy.
Both hands - busted index fingers from the subway incident are slowly healing. The left one still hurts at the last knuckle and can only bend about three-quarters. I have stopped wearing splints on it. The right one is still in a bunch of trouble. I finally started keeping it out of the splint for the most part, unless I am working and need to protect it. I can bend it about halfway. Still not much real pain except when bending it to its limit, although there is still swelling all around the knuckle. Its been a week. Might be time to see a doc. The gash on the left index finger was awfully deep. It was still positively raw when the flap of skin came off. It looked like it had sliced into the muscle a little, but was just then starting to heal over. After a few sensitive days, hard skin is covering it again.
Stomach - I have been sick since this afternoon. Woke up at 1 PM. Had a list of things to do, but instead opted to start the morning off with a martini and a good non-tobacco smoke. Well, I use a vaporizer for smoking sometimes, and I often wind up smoking a little too much of a good thing. Which isn't always good. Like this time - I just kept going. And I admit, I mixed a larger martini than usual. A good three shots. And I hadn't had anything for breakfast. An hour after I came up with this great idea, I was almost passed out, and unable to move because I was so nauseous. I managed to make it to the bathroom, where I did passed out waiting for the inevitable vomiting that never happened. It was around three when I started hugging the bathroom floor in sleep. I finally woke up at 9:30 - my stomach, still queasy and rolling like a kayak in stormy seas. In spite of eating and drinking a bunch, rehydrating and caffeinating, and doing Rocky, my stomach still feels as uneasy as Rocky Virgin getting called up to the stage. I hope it goes away when I finally fall asleep.
Lower back - I have a long-standing fear of a slipped disk down there. There is a small bulge and I have always had weird pains in that area. If there was something they could do for a bulge, I would have it checked.
Right knee - on a shoot in December I did a really stupid thing - I found a great angle that required me to sit almost Japanese-style kneeling, except that all my weight rested on the very lower part of the knees. I didn't realize how much pressure was on my patellas for five minutes until I stood up - and felt my right kneecap slowly get "sucked" back into place by ligaments I had stretched way too far. I don't think I have a tear anywhere, but it gets so stiff and painful if I don't move around a lot. Stretching my legs in the morning is now a painful chore. I can't run or ski again until I can get them strengthened and tighter.
Left shin - motherfucking shin splints for a week. Fucking hell! Although, strangely, they felt much better after strutting in heels for five minutes last night. A new therapy perhaps?
Left middle toe - stubbed it tonight playing Frank in flip-flops.
That sums it up. The current list of my maladies. Aren't you thrilled I share this with people?
