this afternoon, patrick and i did his government hw based on this really good article about PETA and a display that theyre attempting to get permission to put up in syracuse.
the thing is, PETA is comparing animal slaughter and neglect to the holocaust of WWII. And so, theyve posted these huge displays ( 8' x 10' ) half full of actual holocaust photos from the holocaust museum.. and the other half is of photos of piles of headless chickens... cows being cut at the troat... horses and goats being starved to death... and piglets awaiting their butchering. very, very graphic. PETA has been successful at posting their displays in public parks in over 40 states.... but syracuse wont letthem post here. jews and other peopl say that the sluaghter of animals doesnt even BEGIN to compare to the holocaust, where 6 million people were brutually killed in less than 10 years.... but over 6 million animals in hte US, ALONE, are torturedand slaughtered every YEAR, for atleast the past 100 years. syracuse not allowing peta do this is is going against the first amendment ... their right to freedom of speech, expression, press... etc. sure, its going to be graphic as all hell, but fuck that. people need to realize how these animals are treated. just as cruelly, if not more cruel, than those jews that suffered during the world war.
i very strongly feel that PETA should be able to set up its display in syracuse. i cant talk about it anymore because its an emotional topic, but anyway...
we went to patricks house for dinner tongiht.. his mom made delicious enchilada rice tacos... and lemon meringue pie :) yummm
