To bring quiet

There is no beauty grows in life
There is no beauty, but if there were
I would hold it in torn clumps
Close to my heart

And the rose petals flow down that stream
Little boats, each to hold a wedding ring
But they all sink under the weight,
We all sink

I want the lover, I want the flesh
I want that lover's flesh just like a shadow
So dark, and so cool, and so soft all
Over my shoulders looming

And what does any of it mean
And why should I write, why should I sing
If it brings no peace & no joy
To my life
