Amanda/
psychoticangels and I had plans to go to
Hopcat again last Saturday. Well, make that a week prior to Saturday last. A late lunch + drinks turned into a week long adventure full of beer, friends, & Reno 911! DVDs. (Needless to say, I'm virulently addicted to that show for a variety of reasons, not the least of them being that I've found my first dysfunctional husband among the cast. ^_~)
Too many beers and too many days to recall everything in chronological order. Highlights include hanging out @ Hopcat w/ Dave Braun then hitting
Founder's Brewery for a benefit to help out a local no-kill cat shelter. I actually won a raffle prize, while I was in the bathroom no less! My prize was a $10 gift certificate for Founder's, which I promptly redeemed for another pitcher of their fantastic Centennial IPA (that's India Pale Ale, for you amateurs).
We met up w/ Amanda's soon-to-be roommate Amber and my darling Susan @ Hopcat a couple days later. Bloody Marys were had & enjoyed by all. For a place that specializes in top notch brews, they make the best Bloody Marys I've ever had the sheer pleasure to imbibe. (Pics to follow... yeah, I KNOW I have yet to post the Florida pics... but those really aren't that great, trust me. Unless you're into pirate ships & pelicans. Then maybe you'd think they're pretty rad. Otherwise, you're not missing much.)
Back to job-hunting.... as of tomorrow I'll be @ my mom's for a week & a half, house-sitting/dog-sitting while she's in Cali. It will be SO NICE to have an entire house all to myself. I'm not acclimated to living w/ others and while I am extremely grateful to my grandparents for allowing me to live here rent-free for several months, it's really very difficult and unpleasant much of the time. True, I am a very social person, but when I am home I like to be truly alone. Even having people in the other room annoys me. I also can't exercise when I'm here and since I don't go out (there is nowhere to go in the middle of nowhere) my physical activity is at an all time low & I've put on weight. I'm not worried about losing it; it's not that difficult, as I already eat extremely healthfully. As of tomorrow, I'm cinching my diet down even more and getting back on an exercise regimen. Which will be easy to do there, as I not only have access to TV & DVD players, so I can watch my yoga & pilates DVDs, but I cat use the free-weights & elliptical machine (which is my fave type of cardio) as well.
I cannot wait to not only get back into shape, but to move back to Chicago. I feel like I've been stuck in some sort of unkind time-bubble for the past several months and I am finally going to get back to my REAL life in the REAL world. Life can go on the way it should, once I'm there.
Regardless, I'll be back in the city around April 11th, as that's the date of the Autechre show. I've already made dates & plans w/ a few peeps and am uber excited to see them all! I'm also getting my hair cut (@ possibly coloured) by the amazing
Shannon @ Orbit Salon. Woohoo!
This rut I've been in for MONTHS is nearly over, I can feel it and it feels as though I'm breaking through a thick layer of dried mud that I'd taken to be a pretty marble prison. Now I know better.
