Satriani = Super Collosal!

Got back from the Satriani gig about an hour ago... What an AWESOME show tonight... No regrets going for it I'm really glad I didn't change my mind about going..

Julia, Ee Ping and (today's surprise attendee) Sau Khoon came.. Was initially supposed to be just me and Julia.. then Ee Ping found out and wanted to come and she got Ben (a first year dude) who changed his mind last minute (just today in fact) due to some personal thing he was reluctant to talk about. We left campus at about 5, I drove all the way and we kinda got stuck in traffic.. Heavyish but moving. Got in to Birm just near the Symphony Hall at about 6, discovered parking outside around the area was free after 6 (bonus!) and managed to get a neat little spot really nearby. Had a quick dinner at Walkabout, an Australian themed pub/bar which I'd read had decent food. The 2 girls and I had kangaroo burgers (mine double. of course :P) and SK had a lamb burger. Decent price and reasonable food..
Then popped over to the hall and missed the first few minutes of Johnny A. O_O They started bang on 7.30. Really prompt, no waiting about or anything which was I guess a good thing. Johnny A is pretty good too... might look into buying some of his music soon.

Satriani opened with Flying in A Blue Dream... I don't remember the entire set list but he didn't touch Crystal Planet or Engines of Creation. Bit of a shame since crystal planet was such a good album. Did all the classics though..(in no particular order) Satch Boogie, Cool #9, Ice 9, The Extremist, Circles, Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing, Always With Me Always With You (tied with an ending solo that had the raspberry jam delta v intro [!!!!!]), Super Collosal (SC), One Robot's Dream (SC), Just Like Lightnin' (SC), Redshift Riders (SC), A Cool New Way (SC), The Meaning of Love (SC),
The encore was amazing as well. He played Crowd Chant from Super Collosal, a song I don't remember and Summer Song. All in all, more than well worth the money. I got a souvenir t-shirt too... as I do.. 45 pounds definitely well spent.

In other news: got external examiner interviews tomorrow, hopefully I won't be one of them. And results out as early as Wednesday afternoon or by 2pm Thursday. O_O Only God can save me now. O_O
