End of Year Stuff 2015

Jan 10, 2016 17:34

Okay, so I'm late with this, but here is my top media lists. Wow, this is my first post since may last top media list, I think. Also, I failed at the Oscars project and movies in general this year. That list will be later when I finally watch all of those movies.

I only saw five new movies this year. Fail!

Top Movies
5) Pitch Perfect 2 - It was a fun night out for my birthday. Fun movie. Not as good as the first one. Still enjoyable.

4) The Avengers: Age of Ultron - I liked it. It was fun like most superhero movies are. But...I didn't love some things about it. Still a good time, though.

3) Ant-Man - I think the fact I liked Ant-Man more than the Avengers movie says something. Though it was a really fun movie and I laughed a lot! I like to laugh, so it won points over AoU in that regard.

2) Inside Out - Holy crap. This made me cry all throughout. Such a great movie. So real, considering it's about animated emotions!

1) Selma - It's the only one of the Oscar nominated films I watched in 2015, and I'm so glad I did! I wanted to see this more than the others. Such a fantastic movie and important! It's a travesty this didn't get Best Actor nomination.

Top TV
10) Daredevil - Liked a lot, though not as much as critics and most people did. Didn't care for the villain, and I know I'm in the minority there. Still, it was good. Nice action scenes and the acting was decent. Love Foggy.

9) The Flash - Some of the second half of season one lacked something. I can't put my finger on what, but it wasn't as good as the first half. First half of season two has been pretty good, though. So it still makes top ten. Zoom is no joke.

8) Teen Wolf - I was really not a fan of the 5A finale. Plus the silly lack of communication between characters for sake of drama rather than good writing really annoyed the hell out of me. But! I still liked it. I think these new villains are pretty interesting. I still love the characters, too. Mostly. Theo can DIAF.

7) Pretty Little Liars - Another in which I really did not like the mid-season finale. In fact, I hated it. It was both nonsensical and insulting. But I loved S6 up until then. It had been better than the show had been lately. Really love how the show tackled PTSD and how people deal with it differently. The second epidose of S6 is probably my favorite of the entire series.

6) Homeland - Season five was great. I might be in a slight minority when I say the last two seasons have been the best. This one was very compelling and I loved the setting in Germany. It was the same kind of story, but told a little differently. Excellent acting as usual. I even liked the finale, even with an ending that is upsetting.

5) Agent Carter - This was an excellent way to pass the time until AoS returned from hiatus! What a fantastic show. The main character is definitely worthy of being a title character. Peggy Carter is a badass and a boss. I love her. Also, I love Angie and Jarvis.

4) iZombie - I am not usually a fan of the zombie genre. This show is so different from the average zombie show, though. I don't think I've seen a show about a zombie who still has her humanity. I like to refer to it as Veronica Mars with zombies. There's been enough VM alumni, and that is going to continue into the second half of S2. Liv is one of my favorite characters currently on tv. Love the supporting cast, too, particularly Ravi. Good stuff.

3) Jessica Jones - Wow. This show. It was pretty upsetting for fairly obvious reasons if you've seen or heard anything about this show. It was more psychological thriller than superhero show. The acting was amazing, the writing excellent, and just...everything was great.

2) The 100 - Talk about dark. Holy hell, this show put me through an emotional ringer! But it was so good! I cannot believe this is a CW show. How is that possible? Just damn. This is a show I rewatch so many times because it is just that good and interesting to me. That S2 finale just killed me.

1) Agents of SHIELD - I know, I know, this one isn't as good quality as some of the others, but whatever, this is my list. This is my favorite show on tv right now. I just love all the characters (even Ward as a villain), and I find the storylines compelling. Plus, this show has Melinda May. All other shows bow before it because of that!

Honorable Mentions
Arrow - Really didn't care for S3. It's the reason it's left off. I'd probably put this at #11, and that's only because S4 started to get the show back on track.

The Astronaut Wives Club - Even if this was a masterpiece, I wouldn't put it on the top ten list simply because it was a one off show. I really enjoyed it, though. It was a nice summer show. Plus, it had Yvonne Strahovski. She needs to be cast in something amazing soon.

How To Get Away With Murder - OMGWTF! That is really all I can say.

Supergirl - I really enjoy this. I am betting it'll crack the top ten eventually, but for now, I'll mention it here. I really love the sisterly relationship Kara and Alex have. It's my favorite thing about it.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Very funny! But it didn't make my list because I really didn't like the ending with the super ridiculous and stupid trial. Sorry. It completely took me out of the show.

Shows I Quit
Jane the Virgin - OMG, the triangle got really fucking annoying real fast! I loved the first season and was recommending it to everyone! Now, I want to tell people not to bother if they really hate triangles. Doesn't help the showrunners claim the triangle will be part of the show as long as it's on. They might change their minds when the show loses even more viewers.

Quantico - I watched three episodes and just gave up. So stupid. I also really don't like the main character. She is the main focal point a little too much for me.

Switched at Birth - Just got tired of nothing good happening for Bay. Poor girl gets shit on way too much and I couldn't take it anymore. Also, it got boring and dumb.

Now for some stats regarding the 500 Episodes meme of 2015.

First episode of 2015: Parks and Recreation 2x05 - Sister City 1/4
Last episode of 2015: Homeland 5x12 - A False Glimmer 12/22

0100. Teen Wolf 4x10 - Monstrous 2/9
0200. Parks and Recreation 4x14 - Operation Ann 3/28
0300. Pretty Little Liars 1x01 - Pilot 6/6

0700. Once Upon a Time 5x05 - Dreamcatcher 10/25
