I'll be flying back into the country from Argentina on May 2. TMBG have apparently booked a show on the 3rd at Jannus Landing. According to Pollstar, there's also a show in Savannah on the 4th. Thanks, TMBG, for skipping Florida entirely on your last tour and waiting until I'm in Georgia to randomly book some far South/Wang of America dates without even listing all of them at the same place and without listing any of them on your official site!
My options are thus:
-Ask for the 3rd and 4th off as well, despite having already asked off a whole week and skipped out on an Afterhours in order to fly to Buenos Aires. This plan is not very workable because even if I could take the time off, Clara probably won't be able to.
-Come back to Athens on the 2nd as planned and skip the St. Pete show altogether, despite it being a wonderful venue and so darn close to where I'll be Monday. Instead, I can leave work two hours early on Thursday and head to Savannah. This is a good plan because it means I can theoretically meet
the_hawk in Savannah and maybe even spend the weekend there, which I've been meaning to do for years now.
-Wait and see if any more mysterious and unpublicized shows pop up.
I find the timing of these shows to be amusing since I spent all of Wednesday night "converting" my new roommate to TMBG love. He was resistant ("They're too jokey!" "What's up with all the happy poppy crap?") until he watched Gigantic. After that, he begged me to play him Birdhouse, so we drove almost to Atlanta and back playing it over and over with MISLIH and Ana Ng mixed in.
cocomotion! Why not try and come down for the Savannah show?
Edit: Augh, this plan sucks. The tix for Savannah have already gone on presale for SCAD students AND it's a seated venue. Seeing TMBG in a seated venue is a terrible experience and not really worth it to me. Here's hoping they announce more shows.
