Today I shed one of the final protections shielding me from the mantel of adulthood. With the help of insurance acquired through my own employment, I scheduled, drove to, attended, and paid for my own doctor's appointment. In the waiting room, I read the New Yorker instead of Highlights. When the appointment was over, I coughed up the cash for my co-pay without mentally converting the sum into lost albums.
I'm exhausted. A certain fat and furry bedfellow woke me at 1 am for petting and kept me up until 5.
