...Yes. As happily as fools may live, which may be very happily indeed.

okay! you should add that to your story, 'cause it's kinda boring without an ending.

It is better to learn for oneself, if one is curious. Regardless, the moral of the story is not in what comes after the ending, but in the ending itself.

To which happy part do you refer?

you said they lived happily ever after. isn't that the ending?

No. This is the ending:

"The detective was humbled, thereafter working under the direction of the prosecution, never again under the impression that they were somehow capable on their own."

This brings to a close the narrative, and imparts upon the reader the moral of the story, which is that one must not presume above one's station, and that it is always right to yield to superior minds.

if you start with "once upon a time" you're supposed to end with "and then they lived happily ever after." i don't read much books but even i know that! (-_-);

what's yield mean?

You do not read "many" books, child, and I am aware without you telling me.

Yield means to give as is due out of right or obedience. One may yield the right of way in traffic so that another car may pass, or may one yield to the authority of someone else who is ranked higher in a military organization.

I would become accustomed to it, were I you. A girl with your prospects will end up using it a lot.

what's "prospects" mean?

Ask your father, and ask him to explain why yours are bad.
