Blast from the past

An old Diary Land entry that I found humorous. Please enjoy the short remembrance of the racist Coke machine.

Coke hates Mexicans

Apr. 22, 2004 - 4:18 p.m.

I'm on break during my photo class. Two construction guys working on the lighting in the Fine Arts building are at the consession machines. One is trying to put a dollar into a Coke machine, but it doesn't work.

I step aside and get a Snickers bar, since I only seem to live off of those anymore. I get my change and I step aside and wait for the guy to get his soda.

Lo and behold, the dollar still ain't going in. He motions me to try while he gets change from a nearby machine. To my dismay, it doesn't work for me either, so I do the same and get change.

Now I stand around and watch as this same guy tries to put three quarters into the machine.

Every time he puts one in, it falls right through to the coin return slot. Repeats about six to seven times.

He then goes to say (in a joking manner) that the machine is racist. So he goes to his black friend and asks for some quaters to see if "black change" works. (Since his "mexican change" ain't working)

He then rants to my enjoyment as the machine doesn't accept his friend's quarter's either. I laugh and he looks back at me and laughs too.

After a few more quarters fall through with no luck, they both give up and walk away.

After a few seconds of deliberation, I walk up to the machine.

*clink, clink, clink*

Push button for soda.

"Mmmmm, Sprite."

I swore I felt their stares burn through me as I walked back to class, nice cold soda in my hand and a gratifying smile on my face.

Re-reading my old stuff is kind of embarassing, but it also showed that I used to actually WRITE. Even if it was just useless jabber, I would try to make it interesting. Nowadays I tend to get right to the point.

And hit Enter a lot. I'll never stop doing that.

Anime time~
