All things considered, it turned out about as well as Spike could have expected. He could allow himself some credit as he stood in front of the office. They had Nagi. That was something he could be satisfied with after the hassle of tracking him down and busting him out. Too bad that wasn't the hard part. Undoing whatever Genkaku did to his brain was going to take a lot more skill. And time

It was the noise that first made him look up, and even that signal took him far too long to process in his half-conscious, drugged state. The click-slide of the door unlocking and swinging open, then the sharp electric twang of the lights flashing on. The sudden brightness made him cringe the slightest bit -- he'd spent far too long locked in the dank semi-darkness of Genkaku's makeshift prison, and the light hurt his eyes. It all sounded so trivial. Everything Spike did, Spike said, everything here and now in this moment -- it all seemed to trivial. So pointless. And Nagi absently wondered how long it would take before the sedation wore off and he could move again. His limbs felt overly numb, absent of the pain that had been a constant companion over the past few months -- he couldn't even assess how badly he was hurt or how much he was healed at the moment. This, too, he hated -- this place, this situation
