this conversation.
It was actually a decent bar. One of the biggest surprises Reno had experienced lately was that it hadn't vanished in the weeks since it appeared. Like some kind of goddamn oasis. Reno sat in the corner, situated at a table instead of his usual stool. From his vantage point, he could scope out every customer who entered. Most of them were ordinary, practically faceless, as they came in to go about their business. They left him alone. It didn't seem that whoever this guy he was meeting was, he'd be hard to spot when he showed up.
He'd already ordered a beer, although instead of drinking he was still busy listening to the squabbling on the network. None of them were worth anything but a headache. If he didn't need the thing to do his job, he would have thrown his communicator in the sea months ago. Although from the way Tseng made it sound, he was one push away from firing him, so he might have been better off. But the Turk wasn't as lazy as they made him out to be, he wanted out of there more than any of them. Or at least, he wanted to get some payback for what they put him through. It'd be a hell of a lot easier if they had some help.
It just wasn't often that someone came in that seemed worth the trouble. This guy, Crocodile, seemed like the type that they'd want to get in good with. He wasn't sure how far a meeting would get, but it was a nice change to find someone who wasn't sitting on his hands. After raiding the casino looking for a murderer was a bust, Reno was ready to move on to bigger things. Besides, Tseng was the one who told him they needed more allies. Ones that didn't happen to be Sephiroth clones would be a nice bonus.
In hindsight, the Turk should have arranged for the others to be there. Reno wasn't the best at negotiations and he didn't know how good his pitch sounded. But he could use the the credit to his name if it worked out.
That was, if he didn't turn out to be another psychopath.
He'd find out soon enough.
