Who: Caim undeify, Gamma blackfoxed and Alice abitofaputz
What: EPIC RESCUES or something idk. Caim needs to learn how to say no to people.
Where: various places, ending at the bridge
When: Uh. Post-Dai pwnage.
This wasn't a good idea. He knew that, even as he told the girl he'd be right there to find her, even as he picked up his pace to a run. It could have been a trap for all he knew, but someone with the balls to set a trap in the middle of a monster invasion was ...well, not impossible. Just unlikely, and he couldn't simply ignore Alice and hope some other good samaritan would give a damn in the middle of all the chaos and move on with finding Caim's reluctant ass. For all the other shit he'd done Gamma couldn't argue against instinct, and he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt what Regina's orders would be in this situation which left him no other choice. There was nothing to contradict her will here and it was somewhat of a relief to sink into old habits, into the person who would have responded to that call without a doubt.
A little bit of relief. A little bit of guilt, too, and he tried not to think of what Uni would say. He tried not to think of her calm expression, if she would have told him something else. Let it happen. It isn't your concern.
He activated his box weapon and cut his way through a knot of smaller monsters blocking his way. Still thinking too much. Still hesitating and it was going to get him killed one of these days. He'd find the girl, get her somewhere safe, find Caim-- and then he'd come up with the rest of the plan after that.
Calling out might attract attention, so he stayed silent as he neared her last location, sending the Volpi off to scout for a moment while he searched inside and out a few buildings. Hopefully she'd gone inside one of them and was hiding somewhere.
Hopefully he wouldn't find a smear of blood on the pavement and a busted communicator.
