Doubts had already been planted within Genesis' mind from the moment he'd learned what was to be. The supposed fate of one of ShinRa's elite, the experiments that would soon turn a celebrated, First Class SOLDIER into nothing more but a desperate man on the brink of collapse. Despite Angeal's somewhat reassuring words, Genesis' resolve had continued to crumble, like sand slipping through his fingers. And all he could do was watch silently, powerless to stop it all from fading away.

What was it that Angeal had said? That he could still be a hero? Perhaps, he could. Doomed yes, but a hero nonetheless for as long as his time allowed. But that required a grand amount of nobility - which was something Genesis didn't possess too much of. What he did, he did for himself. His own reputation, his own name, his own glory.

And who knows, maybe he would have given in and taken that inevitable fall into destruction had it not been for Angeal ( ... )

Entering the apartment, Angeal felt his agitation start to slide. He observed his living space with a critical eye, as if it could tell him the future. Yet everything was peaceful inside. Perhaps the situation wasn't as grave as he had painted it to be ( ... )
