The idea of a crowd didn't draw Nill. In fact, it made her a bit uneasy: warm palms and cheeks, too much sensation just about everywhere, heightened awareness of her surroundings. But while she didn't mind being cooped up in a church or an apartment, New Door Era was very different from the place she'd come from. There were less than pleasant people (well, person thus far), but nothing so bad as to warrant her self-imposed house arrest. And Nill was, after all, dreadfully curious as to what exactly a ball was, aside from a round plaything and a word used for cursing (usually in the plural). This seemed to be one of those rare occasions when she could explore her curiosity fully, rather than just let it simmer for fear of the outside.

It was big and there were people on all sides and just when Nill felt too timid to step in, she heard music. Music was lovely: it was dipping and twirling and soothing; it uncurled her fingers, out of the fists that were pressing crescents into her palms, and it made her wings want to flutter under the bolero jacket she was wearing to hide them. (It looked much prettier than wearing Allen's overcoat, though it wasn't as warm in many ways.)

Nill loved dancing, but couldn't herself - not the proper way she assumed was meant to be done at something so formal - so she stayed on the edges of activity, and waited to see what all a ball was.

Amongst the crowd of people is a different guest-a large cat that currently resembles a cheetah to those with such an animal in their homeworlds. Regardless of its form, it wouldn't take much observing of the natives to see that its a pet to the Ice Magister and the High Priestess. And despite its size not at all agressie as its been weaving in and out of people socially looking for attention.

For the moment, it's actually busy, really, with a little case to deliver to someone in its mouth; but in its curiosity, it has been pausing every so often at other people that it's not particularly looking for. So now, the cat has paused and is looking at Nill, its ears twitching indecisively before finally it decides to slowly make its way over to her. It approaches with a very cautious and timid air, as it can see she is small and isn't interested in startling her. Despite being a rather large animal, it's just a big baby and Nill looks like she might give it some attention. Plus, because of Erielle, it has a fondness of blonde girls. Unlike Erielle, though, this girl seems more timid. It's not sure why, it just can tell.

People moved a bit to the side, parting like long strands of grass. Nill's gaze was drawn downward to that which was politely making its way towards her. She had seen cats before, of course, on stoops and jumping out of dumpsters, but this one was much, much larger. It was also considerably more regal: no scruffy hair or missing bits in its ears, but corded in sinuous muscle, with spots peppering its tawny fur. Its movements were slow and deliberate, and its eyes dark pools that seemed more welcoming than frightening.

With only the slightest hesitation, Nill knelt down to welcome it. She even extended a hand, though she wouldn't touch it unless it wanted to be touched.

With her offering a hand out, the cat would go to press its snout against her hand to initiate a touch and show it wanted to be petted. Really, it was just like a big house cat when it wanted to, and especially now it wanted to be. It wasn't usually allowed into parties like this, so it was having a hard time understand why there were so many people and yet many of them were hanging off to the side by themselves.

Even if it had been to parties before, it wouldn't know any better, but at least it would probably not have been as nosy. Its tail, slightly puffed at the end swung a bit, twitching and moving in nonuniform motions in expression of its inquisitive nature rather than a typical low and deliberate swing to signify annoyance like most cats would.
