Losing one's emotions was not a comfortable process, not in the least. Scathach had experienced it countless times before, and had always been able to resist the temptation of the humani around her, their feelings not nearly as pronounced as they could have been. Over the years their senses had dulled; once, they had needed sharpened eyesight and sensitive hearing to survive. They had depended on an acute sense of smell to be aware when danger was approaching. But their folly had been taking those things for granted, and now they had lost them. The Warrior did not plan on making the same mistake.

It was simply too much. That was what the native, wild part of her mind continued chanting as she ran through the streets, dodging from shadow to shadow as if she was merely a flicker in the darkness. Her namesake was well earned, obviously. If there had not been as many humani around her, perhaps she would not have given in to the pull of their feelings, their emotions. She was far too gone to deny it now; she had waited until the last moment to find her true sustenance, rejecting the part of her she loathed so deeply. Usually, she could go months without feeding.

Sophie's senses had not been enough to last more than a week.

One source would not be enough-she did not want to leave an empty husk of a human for anyone to find. She would pick several, would leech their emotions in moderation, reminding herself that they were not merely a food source, but some of them were her friends. Like Nicholas. He had always been true to her. She would never feed from him unless he allowed it. Not like she was about to drain the very feeling from the elderly man she had just caught sight of from her silent perch in a tree. The redhead paused silently in the shadows, pale skin grey in the gloom as she watched her prey.

Like her ancestors, she would hunt.
