Some of them resisted the Avatar. They hadn't sounded so different, either, but Luc had been less concerned with his wellbeing than the wellbeing of others, he had been less afraid of what was happening to him than what that might lead to. He turned to look at Shuuhei, and his face was blank, strictly neutral, green eyes raking over him and spotting the weapon there. A combatant. There was no way to judge his talents yet, but that was an advantage. From what he could see, Luc was not armed.
He turned, looking back to their quarry, and lifted his gun. His Atma pulsed, and his brow furrowed as he tried to concentrate. All this power. It was... having some effect, it seemed.
"He knew it was coming," he murmured, low, almost gravelly voice as soft as he could make it, eager not to capture Luc's attention too quickly. "However, it would seem that whatever is causing the wind is beyond his control."
The terrain was not advantageous. Open, and Luc would spot them all too easily, probably had some idea that they were there by now. There was no opportunity to sneak up together, and without knowing Shuuhei's power, he couldn't rely on him heavily.
He frowned deeply, mulling it over, and plans were so much easier in a party of five, and plans went far better when the enemies had been predictable, had been like him, and plans were, it seemed, going to be need a major overhaul if encounters were going to be like this from here on.
By his reckoning, there was only one efficient way to do this, and even that carried a marked risk.
"Circle around the front of the fountain. Create a distraction. I'll come around the other side and get his back. He - or it - is notably powerful, but in a weaker form like that, it should take little to bring him down."
